Rarest answer games, explained
A rarest-answer game gives you an open prompt, such as “Name a fruit.” Many answers are valid. Here, the term means an open-prompt game that rewards uncommon valid answers; some games give higher points and others give a lower, better score. Actual player frequency and a fixed estimate of familiarity are different ways to measure rarity.
How the score is actually attached
Cosmillion publishes six steps: +10 Tourist, +15 Overthought, +30 Cadet, +60 Astronaut, +85 Deep Space, +100 One in a Galaxy. Seven prompts make 700 the ceiling. The method that places a specific answer on a step is not published. I will not guess it. Uncommon Trivia says it uses median monthly English Wikipedia views. Rarest Answer says it uses the share of players and shows a percentage. Those are three different attachments of the same idea.
| Game | What is published | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Cosmillion | Six fixed tiers, +10 to +100 | 1 source · official publisher |
| Uncommon Trivia | 10–100 from Wikipedia views, 7 prompts, 25 seconds | 1 source |
| Seldom | 0–100 per guess, five guesses, lower is better | 1 source |
| Rarest Answer | Six gem tiers from player share, percentage shown | 1 source |
Who it suits
Play this category if you enjoy finding valid answers beyond your first thought; check whether a game has a timer before choosing it. Skip it if you want a single hidden word, the way Wordle works. The official games-like-Wordle page makes that distinction: Cosmillion is not a five-letter deduction. If you want the neighboring titles, use the nine-game list.
Questions people ask
Is there one correct answer?
No. Any reply on the board counts. A common reply scores less. The rarest published reply scores the most.
Is this the same as Pointless?
The official explainer makes that comparison: you want a correct answer few other people give. Cosmillion then pins that idea to six fixed point values.
Where is the full list of games?
The nine-game table lives on the games-like-Krillion page. This page is the definition, not the catalog.
